“Falconry at the Thame Country Show
Just simply … an amazing show!
The Easter Weekend produced some amazing performances all around the showground, as well as also in the Living Heritage Falconry Village. We had guest falconers, First Class Falconry, in addition to the resident falconers, who put on a fantastic static display, as well as a superb flying display along with ourselves in the Andy Singleton Arena.
At this show there were over 60 birds of prey, which had travelled with their falconers from all over the United Kingdom, including 20 of our own at Hawkeye Falconry UK. This was the largest collection of birds of prey so far this show season and it produced non-stop entertainment all day in the Falconry Village Arena’s, as well as also displaying in the Andy Singleton Arena and the Countryside Arena! Lots of people had a go at flying the birds throughout both days, including the owls in The Great Living Heritage Owl Show. This show was so well attended that people were standing outside the tent, to view the owls from all over the world!

After the Owl Show, the falconers, including us at Hawkeye Falconry UK, The Falconry Centre, AC Falconry and First Class Falconry, undertook a 45 minutes Falconry Spectacle allowing members of the public into The Andy Singleton Arena to have a more personal (sometimes more than expected) experience. We had 12 birds of prey displaying their attributes. The birds included Falcons, Hawks and Eagles. Over 100 people came into the arena to have a closer look. As you can see from these photos below, they certainly got more than they were expecting!

The remaining time spent was in the Falconry Village. The shows included, The Great Living Heritage Eagle Show, Chrissie’s Owls, AC Falconry Display, Guest Falconer Display and more Owl Shows! Then at 3:30pm, Hawkeye Falconry UK and Trochry Gundogs met in the Countryside Arena for a display, showing Poetry-in-Motion (most of the time!). The display showed Hawks working with Dogs and Ferrets as well as Falcons working with English Setters.

All in all, the Thame Country Show was a huge success in the Falconry Village. The public were great and flew so many birds themselves! Ourselves at Hawkeye Falconry UK are certainly looking forward to the next Living Heritage Show, fingers crossed the sun is shining once again!
