Hello Everyone!
Just thought that I ought to keep you updated with the progress of the trip to here in Abu Dhabi. After arriving safe and sound on Saturday night, the hotel bed was very welcome. After waking up in the morning, the exploration of the hotel began, finding out more of the home for the next week.
The hotel is right on the Yas Marina Circuit, where Lewis Hamilton recently celebrated winning the Formula 1 World Championship, and the donuts of his celebration can still easily be seen.
Sunday, was not a day to rest, as of all the days here in Abu Dhabi, meeting people and fellow falconers. The first venue to meet the first falconers was at the Falcon Hospital. We were lucky enough to get a private tour of the sanctuary as well, and well … I was very impressed!
The Falcon Hospital is a recognised part of Falconry here in the UAE. The falcons here are kept immaculate, and even if they have one millimetre of wear and tear on any feather, they are bought in by their owners to be returned to perfect state. They treated us to watch two procedures, that included coping (trimming) beaks, to more invasive surgery.
